MAP IV was founded in 2016 as a Nagoya university-based start-up to inspire society by bringing cutting-edge 3D mapping and localization technologies for autonomous driving systems.

We based our technologies on our research and collaborative experiments in autonomous driving, with the joint development of the open-source autonomous driving software ‘Autoware.’

Through these initiatives, we have enhanced our technology progressively by collecting vast amounts of 3D map data, addressing user requirements, and applying our knowledge of cutting-edge technology and business practices. This approach has enabled us to devise customer-focused and versatile products that our customers use in diverse field environments and conditions.

Expanding Technological Horizons by joining forces with Perception Engine

In July 2022, we completed the business integration with Perception Engine. Leveraging the synergy between MAP IV’s state-of-the-art 3D mapping technology and Perception Engine’s advanced sensing and perception system, we have developed a unique and innovative recognition technology for real-world 3D spatial information called ‘Dimensional Intelligence.’ Our organization has embarked on a new chapter in its journey, where we have shifted our focus to become a technology company dedicated to creating robust and reliable solutions for complex spatial analysis.

In recent years, there has been a significant increase in the demand for our technology, with its application extending beyond autonomous driving into non-traditional industries. The growth in the market is primarily driven by the need to integrate technology into pre-existing sectors such as infrastructure maintenance, surveying, and manufacturing, as well as emerging industries that offer digital twins and AR/VR applications.
